I purchased a three-day pass in England for my wife and me in April. It was not cheap. Online activation was not easy. We managed day 1 OK. The 2nd day a problem emerged with my online activation so I tried again, and succeeded. When I tried to activate the 3rd day, I was told I had already had my third day. This was not true, so I challenged ACP Rail who told me that their system showed them that, on the relevant day at UK time at 6:04:00 pm, and again at 6:04:41, I had activated two days—just 41 seconds apart. I explained the problem that had led me try activation twice. It was clear that my wife had not activated her third day, and that I was not likely to travel without her and that I was hardly likely to travel using two of my three days on the same day! ACP told me their online system was precise and infallible and that there was nothing they could or would do about it. They offered no options, and no sympathy (although they signed off a text message with "Warm Regards"). They saw the situation as a win for their technology and a loss for poor me! If my wife wanted to travel on her third day, and she did, I would have to buy another ticket to accompany her, which I did at a considerable price. I will never use this company again, and will alert all my travelling friends to avoid them like the plague.
